Move - They Kill vegetarians

THEY KILL VEGETARIANS!

MOVE is short for movement. Like Earth First! they believe in the Liberation of all life. They advocate vegetarianism, disrupt circuses and start communes. They do where others preach. They have been continually harassed by the authorities and have suffered beatings and deaths including the death of a baby dragged from the arms of it’s mother Janine Africa and trampled to death by the police until it’s head was crushed. On the 13th of May 1985 a MOVE commune in Philadelphia was destroyed by a bomb dropped from a helicopter by Lieutenant Frank Powell, commander of the Philadelphia Bomb Disposal Unit. 11 men, women and children died. Why ?

- From interviews with MOVE activists, October 1992.

‘The fight MOVE is waging is not just for MOVE. It’s for everybody, for all living things. Because we are fighting against the system that’s poisoning the air that all life got to breathe, rich, poor, animal, vegetable, any living being has to breathe. We are fighting for clean water, that all life has to drink, that our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren have to drink. We are fighting for clean soil to grow healthy, strong food that all life has to eat. That our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are looking for, for food, for health, that fight is for everybody...’- Ramona Africa.

‘The U.S. system had all the time been vicious against any revolutionary movement, the Black Liberation Army, the white North Americans, the Puertoricans but it seems like with MOVE they doubled and tripled it. All the other people they got sent to jail or whatever but there wasn’t this massive killing of people, this massive murdering.’ - Beverly Ramona.

‘Well... They recognise exactly what MOVE represents. We represent the denials of the system. Not just on one level but on every level. This government feels like it can deal with somebody that says: ‘Let’s blow this up’ or ‘Let’s blow that up’. We are gonna eliminate these cops or whatever. But the revolution that MOVE is waging is on every level. It hits them in the pocketbook. Revolution is: Women having babies naturally at home and not relying on the system’s hospitals and medicine technology to have a baby. That’s revolutionary. Do you know how that hurts the medical industry, how much money that draws from them? They don’t wanna see what happens. We don’t comb our hair. We let our hair grow naturally. We don’t wear make up, we are not cosmetic. Do you know what that does to the cosmetic industry? This system, their god is money and when you hit them in the pocketbook that’s when they really feel threatened. That’s where MOVE hits them. Because everything they do.. poison the air because of money, they kill people because of money. So when MOVE hits them in the pocketbook that’s when they really feel it. They don’t want people seeing our example, following that example, because they know what that means to their industry. And that’s why they feel so threatened by MOVE.’ - Ramona Africa.

‘Ain’t nobody in other organisations talking about doing it but John Africa’s revolution. Only organisation. That’s why they see MOVE as a threat opposed to other organisations in the past that’s been revolutionary. They got a lot of people that say this system gotta go but they don’t mean all of it gotta go, totally. They feel like wiping out this government but forming another. John Africa says: No system, no life should be governed. People should govern themselves. ‘Cause no other life lives by government but people. Animals do what their instincts tell them, but people should be governed. People in the past ... you had a lot of people that were so called ‘Freedom Fighters’ like the Black Panthers, there had been a number of people but none of them had ever said, what John Africa is saying about the whole system it’s gotto go, every force.’ - Theresa Africa.

‘Yes, if they don’t believe in the legal system they believe in the educational system, or they believe in some other form like the medical industry. John Africa don’t teach us to believe in any of the systems and that’s something that is not heard of. Nobody else believes that but MOVE’ - Ramona Africa.
